Designed by Debra Kinsey Knits, this is an easy pattern featuring a technique called 'Shadow Knitting' that creates an illusion of blocks in the blanket when in fact, it is knitted in 2-row stripes. Knitted in one piece except for the borders, which are picked up and knitted outwards.
There are two style options: using 3 colours or 5 colours. It can be worked from the chart or written instructions.

When substituting yarn, compare the tension gauge of the pattern and the yarn. Working a tension square to determine the suitability of the yarn as a substitute is recommended - to compare the tension for sizing but also to test whether it creates the fabric you are after.
To determine the quantity of substitute yarn needed, compare the total meterage needed in the pattern to the meterage on the substitute.
